Writing a class book is exciting, but pairing with another class to have a book signing!? THAT is taking it to the next level. My 1st graders were able to collaborate with a 5th grade class (find her blog here) to share their writing. We allowed for volunteer readings on a class stage with a red carpet! Our reading coach even arranged for a real author to come speak to the kids. Parents donated snacks, and we also provided all students with a certificate of achievement. Check out Studentreasures Publishing if you are interested in doing this with your class! I found the process very simple and rewarding.
